MKTG 41 is designed for those students looking at a career in marketing/advertising, as a refresher for current frontline marketing/advertising professionals or as a skill-builder for the small-business owner. The course will help you develop an understanding of the role of promotion in the marketing mix and will focus on the specific functions of Integrated Marketing Communication. In the past, this course was named Introduction to Advertising, but the world has been changing dramatically. As sure as the advent of new communication technologies in the 1950's (radio/television/print) lead to the era of mass communication and mass-marketing, the growth of new digital technology in this millennium is leading us toward more personalized marketing communications and new marketing tactics, such as mass-customization. This course will address both the traditional methods of communicating to the marketplace, along with the New Media that is being developed to provide a more personal and targeted approach to reaching an audience. Although there are no prerequisites, prior business courses, communication courses or professional experience will certainly be of benefit. |

| MKTG 47 is designed for those students looking to earn a University degree in a marketing-related field, as a refresher for frontline marketing professionals or as a skill-builder for the small-business owner. It is a common thought (at least to marketers) that Marketing is the primary function within an organization that actually generates revenue. This course will help you develop an understanding of the Marketing concept as an extremely important strategic process for an organization, while focusing on the tactical impact of the Marketing mix with respect to both goods and services. After taking this course you will have a much better understanding of Marketing as the revenue-generator. Globalization, ethics/social responsibility and the effects of technology on the Marketing process will also be discussed. Although there are no prerequisites, prior business courses, communication courses or professional experience will certainly be of benefit. |
